Our History
Decades of true craftsmanship, tradition, and taste.
Whipped butter put up in a variety of forms is proving to be a sound "self-help" road for S. Kramme of Danish Maid Creamery Co. in Chicago. His products are not only expanding markets for butter, but they are also helping to increase per capita consumption.
At a time when government warehouses are filled to over-flowing with stocks of butter that are unsuccessfully competing pricewise with oleo, a Danish-born butter maker in Chicago is taking positive and effective steps to move butter directly into commercial channels. He's also taking steps which, his experience to date indicates, are increasing consumer purchases and per capita consumption of butter.
S. Kramme of Danish Maid Creamery Co. has been in the creamery business in the Chicago area for more than 40 years--an area admittedly unfavorable for creamery operations since the 40 or 50 pre-war plants have now been reduced to three or four! Today Mr. Kramme himself no longer actually churns butter in chicago, but he's still very much in the creamery business--processing, packaging and marketing butter to a growing number of butter consumers.
His secret? Specialty butter, which provides consumers with something different, something for special occasions, something in more convenient form more attractively packaged or presented. Recognizing the basic competitive price disadvantage of conventional butter, he's followed a different course to give consumers butter--but in an unconventional form.
